Bilingual Business Cards

Everybody knows that business cards are an indispensable part of running a business. Instead of having to grab a napkin, scrabble around for a pen and messily jot down your contact details at a business party or at a conference you can simply whip out a glossy card from your pocket and hand it to whoever you are interested in doing business with. If you’re feeling flashy then hand it over during the handshake, but nothing comes across more suave and shrewd than a bilingual business card when you’re dealing with clients or contemporaries from overseas.

A bilingual business card it not one which translates every detail from English to every other language applicable. Rather each set of business cards pertains to one second language. For instance, you might own a business which deals mostly with consumers and clients in Asia, in which case you will want (for example) 100 business cards suitable for Chinese clients, 100 suitable for Japanese clients and 100 suitable for Indian clients.
Having a business card which has all of the details translated from English into the relevant language not only creates a great impression (it shows that you are willing to include those from other nationalities within your business) but it also saves the client time having to try and translate each word and create an overall opinion of who you are at a later date. Imagine you were visiting Spain and you only have a very basic grasp of the Spanish language, for example. Being handed a regular business card with the details in Spanish is OK; it’s what you expect, but when you go to leave the conversation and want to check out the details you find there’s no point. If you were handed a business card with the English translation on the back you would know that the person is thoughtful, organized and prepared to put in the extra effort to make your life much more comfortable.
